Stoneleigh show 2007
07:30am and Burt picks me up from Littleport for a trip to Stoneleigh. Very easy run up today with light traffic and bright sunshine all the way.
We arrived at 10 O'clock and joined the long queue to pay our £8, wish we had bought pre-book tickets as last year. This year it was a different setup as it was a combined mini and VW show, very strange. On my shopping list today were, window rubber seals and beading, rear brake shoes, and some rubber strip to go around my new one piece van door. All items were duly found, paid for and deposited in the car. To my mind the show did not seem as well attended as in previous years- getting around the various trade stands was really easy. One mini I spotted had an interesting disc brake setup (see picture), turns out, that the calipers were off a Ford Fiesta. I'll have to find out more about this setup. Reason being that I want to put 7.5" cooper discs on the clubby and the Fiesta option would be cheaper to do. In saying that, I came across at least 3 sets of 7.5" cooper discs complete with hubs, and drive shafts, the dearest set being £350 and a quite presentable set for £240. I was really tempted to get that set and bung it on the credit card but better sense prevailed! Still a good show to go to with some good bargains to be found if you looked hard and long. As we had both managed to get everything on our lists we decided to go early and miss the worst of the traffic on the way back.
