Dave Eastman Reports that he is alive and well! - Saturday 28th January 2012

Hi all, no I'm not dead yet!!!!!!! I haven't been in touch for many reasons, but now I have been advised to retire on medical grounds (Parkinson's).

I've been back in the garage hobbling around, my son Matthew has used it to weld up his future wife's 1985 City, and he still owns one of the last twinpoint Coopers(W Reg),and a 1981 clubman estate (well in need of restoration!).

As I am 65 now and still reasonably mobile (I have had Parkinson's for 13 years) I am bashing on overhauling all the mechanical components, (Engine + Box finished), now doing subframes and suspension/brakes etc, on my 1964 Austin (Smooth top) van with the courtesy of Keith Dodd (Minispares) who used to sponsor me in the founding years of MiniCross (1978-9) in which I did quite well.

I took a break from motorsport when my daughter Lucy came along in 1979 (she's just made us Granny&Grandpa) and restarted with about a 100 laps round Brands Indy circuit 2 years ago in our Peugeot 309 GTI trackday machine, but now sadly I've had to surrender my licence because of two REM seizures before Xmas, can still play golf but I need chauffeuring to the golf course!

If you really want to know what I've been up to in the course of my life, check out my website and autobiography "Ere Trotter--Warts And All" (Google search) and you can buy it off of Amazon and waterstones, or from me directly. Getting back to the van it was modified in the `60s with the standard window kit (rubber) but not the rear seat conversion (Restall still going on) and DW Price of Enfield Town (now security glass people in Thundridge Herts) who have both been very helpful).
Any body seen the rear seat in Brown??? ....................Dave Eastman
