John Burton reports - My mini went to Deans's minis to have a seized rear brake adjuster fixed plus new brake fluid. It came back later that day with a bill for £270. Don't worry there is more to come. whilst it was there I asked Dean to fit my HI LO's and some updated dampers that I had bought a while ago. When the mechanics took the drum off the back plate a seal on the piston was found to be leaking and the other piston was stuck fast. The fluid had also affected the brake shoes so a new set of shoes and a new piston were fitted. Whilst the HI LO's were being fitted it was found that the knuckles were also worn so these were promptly replaced. The other good bit was the advisory part of the bill. I needed new discs and pads, luckily I had already bought these as I knew I would need them soon. They are grooved and drilled or as I keep calling them GRILLED. I also bought green stuff pads, and the last part of this missive is, that there was a lot of play in the radius arm bearings so they have been renewed. All that there is left to do now is to set the ride height, tracking and pay for the bearings to be sorted, then we are (Daryl is my passenger for the trip) ready for the Silver Ring Rally organised by Minidirectory, starting at Silverstone then to the Nurburgring then on to Spa before coming home. 6 days 3 racetracks!
Oh yeah, I'm also having some nice new sticky Yokohamas fitted before we go, ready to chew up the Autobahns and the race tracks.
