Boris throws a wobbly. Boris decided to play up this week, power was down and there was a distinctive putt, putt emanating from the exhaust. Suspecting a blown head gasket between pots 2 & 3 investigation was required. NO, the gasket was not blown but both exhaust valves appeared to be. I took the head over to Head Racing developments at witchford where Richard did a compression test, testing revealed that they were not seating properly. Richard soon whipped them out and recut the valve seats and lapped the valves. Richard also checked the head and luckily it did not require skimming. 20 minutes later the job was done and I raced back home to refit the cylinder head. Tomorrow the tappets will be adjusted and the rest of the bits put back on the engine.

Saturday 23rd June. Tappets were adjusted this morning, carb back on, radiator filled, cables connected. Engine started and allowed to idle for a few minutes, followed by a gentle road test around the village, all was well. Unfortunately this evening, some idiot reversed into Boris whilst it was parked and damaged the paintwork on the rear door. Lynching is a distinct possibilty if I ever find out who did it?
