Boris has a new coat

Maddy had been thinking for some while that Boris was in need of a make over. Finally last Thursday (31st May) she grit her teeth and set about stripping down all the exterior fittings. Soon Boris was looking decidedly barren, even more when Maddy started to rub down the bodywork. This carried on Friday evening (May 1st). The bodywork was in good shape, but a few little dings needed filling and sanded smooth. with the paintwork smoothed it was time to mask the windows, cover the wheels and the engine compartment. Alan had lent Maddy his compressor and spray gun as she was determined to have a go at spraying. Saturday (June 1st) time 10:30 in the morning, the sun was up and the garage was at a nice temperature. Paint mixed and spray gun filled, compressor set at 40lbs Sq inch. Face mask on and off she went, first the roof followed by the back door and side panels, front doors wings and bonnet. It was at this point disaster struck! She'd run out of paint and what was worse was that the bonnet had paint runs, nearside A panel and offside front door. Drat & double drat. There was nothing else to do until the following week when the new paint was ordered. The offending panels were flatted down ready for another attempt today 09/06/07. Alan came up from Bishops Stortford to re-spray the bonnet etc. Alan said " no wonder the paint run, you had the air and paint mixture way too high". Once he'd adjusted the spray gun he swiftly sprayed the panels with not a run in sight. So, that's how its done mused Maddy, and filing the information away for the future. The paint dried quickly during the afternoon, so well that Maddy decided to fit the car up with all the shiny bits, finishing around 20:30 hours with just time to take a few pictures.

Maddy gives Alan her profuse thanks for turning round a near disaster. Car looks brilliant on the outside. Tomorrow (Sunday) Maddy will paint the inside of the doors, doorstep, wheels etc.
