Madeline reports 18/03/2007.

Now that Boris is OK I've been paying some attention to the Mortie the 66 mini cooper. First on the agenda was to change the contact breakers, condenser and rotor arm, plugs and distributor cap. Once that had been done I decided to clean the engine compartment as far as possible. Out with the gunk and a stiff brush. with the grime out of the way any flaking paint was removed from the cylinder head, block and gearbox. The Dynamo and starter motor were removed, cleaned and re-painted with BMC engine green (very smart)

The man at Stanford Hall said "The paint I'd bought was the correct shade", But it looks too dark to me? Comments please.

The engine was painted along with the radiator and dynamo brackets. I also took the opportunity to check the brushes in the dynamo and clean the commutator. Everything should be finished tomorrow (17th). Saturday 17th - The dynamo and starter motor were re-fitted and cables connected. Had a bit of trouble with a faulty inline fuse holder but this was soon fixed. The battery was re-connected and the car started up on the second turn of the key. Just got to check the oil, water etc before Brooklands next weekend. ............Madeline
