Norfolk Mini days - Fakenham - 30th May 2010

Sometimes this show can be a killer and other times brilliant. Today was a killer time but only with respect to the plight of Gazebo's. As the day wore on the winds increased and many a Gazebo were in dire peril, so much so that many had to be taken down ours included but not before bending the roof struts and very nearly collapsing on top of us. Ever tried to take a gazebo down in strong wind, the roof was like a huge kite and it took two of us to keep it from blowing away.

That's enough moaning now so lets go onto the show proper, as usual the show was very good despite the gales but luckily no rain. The concours area was full of very smart minis with their owners busily preparing them for the judging at 12:15. Trade stands were very busy and seemed to be doing well with their wares for sale. I spotted a bargain, a pair of minifin brake drums for just £45 which I very nearly bought, but as I'm off to Knebworth for the Mini & VW show tomorrow I decided to hang on to my money. I'm sure that I will find something to tempt me there, particularly if they are period parts for my 66 Cooper. I forgot to mention that bacon butties were the order of the day which Cris cooked to perfection as usual, followed by hot dogs around lunchtime. Clubs were well represented, including amongst others Dinky Devils, East Coast mini club, Norfolk Mini Owners an so forth. Today we left much earlier as without a Gazebo to keep us sheltered we were being battered by the wind and to tell the truth a bit cold too by the time we departed. In conclusion a very good day out at this friendly show and our thank's goto the Norfolk Mini Owners clubs for their hard work in keeping this show going over the last 10 years or so. This is Maddy signing off on behalf of Mini Folk United.
