Mersea Mini Meet 2007
Sunday 16th September - 08:30 Today I was off to the Mersea Mini Meet on Mersea Island, Essex. I have never been to this show before and decided to check it out. Boris was selected for the trip down as I did not want to risk taking the Cooper after its trouble a few weeks ago, just did not fancy breaking down on the A14. In all probability it would have been OK but why take the risk! Boris made short work of the A14 and A12, then onto Colchester and the A1025 to Mersea Island. I arrived there at about 10:20 having done 90 miles from door to door.
I met John Collins who had come down with the Essex mini club. I had hardly settled when drivers were called to their cars for a tour around the Island (See movie clips). The run was well mashalled indicating which way we should go, all credit to the town council for allowing the road run. First off we blatted up to East Mersea before heading west, we eventually arrived at Victoria Esplanade on the seafront, we were allowed to park up on double yellow lines for twenty minutes whilst we stretched our legs and chatted with the other mini owners. Soon we were off back to the show ground to engage in the activities arranged for us. This included an inter club football match, Tug-O-War, mini push, show & shine competition and such like. All in all a very good show. I have only one minor criticism which was the lack of trade stands. There was only one stand there which was doing well. I enjoyed the show and most likely I will make another visit next year.
Well done to the Mersea Mini Club for putting on the show. Bye for now........Maddy
