Kimbolton Charity Fair & Classic show 2005

Saturday night saw cancellation by several members. One crash but no one hurt(except for pride). A blown cylinder head, an automatic engine which dumped its oil and someone who just plumb forgot and arranged something else for today. This left us with just three members to make the trip to Kimbolton. This year there were several mini clubs attending the show. These included the Nene valley club, Safmini, Peterborough mini club, HAMOC, Northant's, Mini Bandits and the MFU. We had arrived by 09:00 and were set up by 09:20. Luckily we were sheltered by the trees as by this time the sun was incredibly hot. Cris elected to cook breafast, which were of course the obigatory bacon butties and very nice they were too.

After breakfast had settled Maddy wandered off to photograph those cars which took her fancy. By one O'clock the temperature had soared and a period of just sitting quietly followed - it was just too darn hot to think of doing anything else. Later in the day we had some visitors from the other mini clubs around the site, on the whole we all get on well together. Ray and Sandy from Safmini popped in for a chat as did Marc and Karena. Simon Denney a former member of Safmini has joined HAMOC as they are based just a few miles from where he lives, they were parked opposite us and he wandered over for a natter. Bill Solis of Mini World fame has just recently driven Simon's car and the report should be in that magazine soon. Maddy's grandson was full of himself as he got a ride in a Ferrari replica for £5 which was to be donated to charity. All members had a lovely day out, and we'll probably be back next year. Congratulations to the Sporting bears motor club and the Rotary club for organising another brilliant show.

This is ROVER signing off for Mini Folk United.
