Kimbolton Charity Classic Car Show & Country Fayre - July 20th 2008
One of our highlight shows of the year is the utterly brilliant Kimbolton show. This year the show has gotten much larger with the cricket pitch being pressed into service. As usual club members pitched in and the club stand was assembled in short order. Young Toby (14) was roped in to cook breakfast which he did brilliantly - good job Toby. On my walkabout I counted 8 mini clubs here this year, Nene Valley, POSH, Safmini, HAMOC, Mini Bandits, Dinky Devils, Wot No Brakes and us. Our turnout was not too great due to holidays and cars being readied for Southern Mini days and Stanford Hall in August and September.
I spotted many classic cars that I would like to own - providing my ship comes in. A Triumph TR4 would be my first choice followed by a nice Lotus Elan, I asked one owner if he wanted to swop with my Cooper, he just shook his head and laughed. Despite the weather forecast for today we were very lucky with just a couple of minutes of light drizzle, unlike last year when the heavens opened. We were treated to a brilliant Fly past of the Battle of Britain Memorial flight, with 6 Merlin engines roaring overhead the noise was incredible. The Lancaster did 5 passes over the crowd opening and shutting the bomb bay doors whilst the Hurricane and Spitfire did some low passes, very enjoyable and a real crowd pleaser. We finally left at around 16:30 having enjoyed yet another brilliant show. Enjoy the pictures folks.

Bacon Butties all round Toby
I know the dog is cute Nicola but you can't take it home!
The owner did not want to swap, can't say I blame him.
