Little Gransden Show report.
A couple of weeks ago I visited a brilliant little Air and Classic Car show. The venue was at
Little Gransden for the children in need appeal. The show brings in a good collection of classic cars, military vehicles and steam engines.
In conjunction with the classic cars there is held a brilliant display of flying in the afternoon. Warbirds, light aircraft, gliders and so on.
My favourite aircraft are the P51D Mustang, Spitfire and Lancaster, although I am now appreciating those of the YAK fighters based here. Absolutely
enjoy the throb of those big rotary engines. Also on display were a static Merlin engine with a cut down propeller and also a rotary engine. These
were started up several times during the day. The noise was quite incredible but enjoyable.
Scattered around the sites were many trade stands, bric-a-brac, charity stalls etc. The main hanger was turned over to many art & craft stalls
all selling a variety or wares. The show was blessed with glorious weather all day, brilliant sunshine and hardly any breeze unlike last year when
the Pilots struggled with a severe crosswind. The flying was as spectacular as ever and the sound of Merlin powered aircraft was magnificent.
This was my 4th year at this show, and one I intend to visit as long as I am able. Congratulations to all involved in putting on another excellent
show....Report filed by Ginger.
