Gamlingay Village Show 2005 - September 17th
Being the member of a classic car club I was looking forward to my annual trip to Gamlingay for their Village and classic car show which is held in the grounds of the village college. Compared with Friday's bad weather today promised to be a treat - blue skies and warm sun. When I arrived, Julian was busy assembling the club stand. I parked my car up and gave him a hand to put up the bunting and such like. Next to arrive was Allen in his spyder replica and Alan in his ford Popular. After a quick cup of coffee I wandered off to photograph some of the classic cars which were steadily arriving. A very nice blue mini van drove in and I recognized the driver. He had been at the Little Gransden show a few weeks back. We had a brief chat about our cars, then he told me "that he had attended the village school here many years ago", Which brought back many memories!
By One O'clock the sun was really warm and the temperature had soared much to the delight of the gathering crowds. In the show arena there was a display of dancers. Later on we were trated to a display of Rugby skills by a group of schoolboys. The bric-a-brac stalls were doing steady trade with quite a few bargains to be had. The last of the classics arrived around 2:30 with the car area by now completely packed.
Shown below is a brief selection of cars and other activities of the day. This is Rover signing off on behalf of the C&DCCC.
