St Ives - Inland Waterways Festival 2007

Something different for MiniFolk this weekend a trip to St Ives in Cambridgeshire and the Inland Waterways Festival. We had been invited by Dinky Devils motor club to join them for the day. We had a prime spot in the main arena along with other mini clubs who had been invited too. I spotted Guy from PMOC, also some members of the mini forum. John collins, Jon Burton and Alan wright and myself from mini folk united. All in all seventeen mini's came along to support Dinky Devils.

I had intended to bring the 66 Cooper along and had spent most of the day before replacing a blown head gasket to get the car ready. Well, I got the job done apart from having a problem with the throttle cable. The ends had splayed out and I could not thread the cable through. Tried cutting it and twisting the ends together, in the end I did manage to connect the cable, but with only 3mm protruding through I deemed it too much of a risk to take it on the road let alone driving 30 miles or so. Luckily at the show simon Denney had a spare inner cable which he let me have for the price of a cup of tea. Thank's Simon.

Having a ringside seat so to speak of we were treated to Wild West Display complete with a lot of bangs from a staged shoot out. The Raptor foundation put on an excellent display with their birds. Members of the public were invited in to chat with the mini owners who quite happily obliged. The show finished at 6 O'clock and we made our way home after an enjoyable day by the river. This is Maddy signing off on behalf of our hosts and MiniFolk United.
