Brooklands Show Report 2007
06:45 And I get up ready for a trip to Brooklands motor museum. Today I was in Boris the 79 Clubby estate as the Cooper is undergoing some minor works.
I had arranged to meet Alan at birchanger services. Before setting off the petrol was topped off for the journey ahead. We left at 08:30 amd made our way down the M25 to
Brooklands. The sun was just starting to break through the low mist as we arrived. Unfortunately on arrival we were stuck in a long queue due to bad staffing by Brooklands.
Handed over our £8.00 and parked up near the banked track (what's left of it).
As it was Alan's first trip to the museum he was keen to see the various exhibits. We viewed an interesting display of motorcycles and cars and a reproduction of a mechanics workshop.
We also visited the aircraft hanger where there were several interesting aircraft on display. Of particular note, was a Wellington bomber which had been recovered from a Scotish Loch in the 1990's.
As there were several trade stands in attendance we thought we'd have a good look round for some needed parts. I bought a couple of new wiper blades and two knuckle joints for the Cooper
plus another mini model to add to my collection. After an enjoyable four hours or so we set off for home. Good run back in bright sunshine for the most part.
As promised additional pictures have been added.
Footnote 02/04/2007. Alan rang me yesterday and told me that he had broken down just after taking the turn to Bishops Stortford off the A10. The heater maxtrix busrt
and started to spew water into the footwell. Luckily he was able to effect a repair by joining the heater pipes with a bit of copper tubing, and to top up the engines
radiator with some water he had on board. He'll be ordering a new heater matrix this week.
This is ROVER signing off for Mini Folk United.
